Matchday 1 of the 2026/27 Champions League concludes on Wednesday 9 September with six more fixtures. Two kick off at 5.45 pm UK time, with the remaining four at 8 pm.
It is the bigger of the two nights. Liverpool host Atlético Madrid, Arsenal travel to Napoli, and Barcelona open at home. Here are all the games and where the betting sits.
Barcelona vs Feyenoord — 5.45 pm
Barcelona start as heavy favourites, and the form backs it up. Hansi Flick’s side have scored 17 goals in four straight wins, including a 5-0 dismantling of Valencia. The attack is functioning at full speed, and the front line looks close to unplayable at home.
Feyenoord arrive unbeaten in the Eredivisie, which counts for something, but the quality gap is wide. Their route back into the game depends on catching Barcelona’s high defensive line, and few sides manage it.
The Dutch champions will want to keep it tight early and take the tie deep. The risk is that Barcelona are three goals up before they settle. On paper this looks like a comfortable home win for Barcelona, and the market seems to agree.

Stuttgart vs Viking — 5.45 pm
A Champions League debut for Viking, who came through qualifying and sit top of the Eliteserien. Reaching this stage is the achievement; competing in it is another matter.
Stuttgart have a solid home record and have been scoring freely in the Bundesliga. They should have far too much squad depth, and the Norwegian side’s lack of European experience is likely to tell over 90 minutes.
Viking will not simply sit in, though. They have attacked their way to the top of their league, and that approach could make this a more open game than the gap in status suggests. Goals at both ends are a realistic outcome, with Stuttgart pulling clear in the second half.
Liverpool vs Atlético Madrid — 8 pm
The pick of the night. Liverpool finally got their first Premier League win under Andoni Iraola at the weekend, powered by a quick Alexander Isak double, and Anfield on a European night is a formidable place to arrive.
Atlético come in badly out of sorts. They lost 3-0 to Athletic Bilbao and have conceded six goals across their last three matches — numbers that look nothing like a Diego Simeone side. The defensive structure that usually travels so well has stopped holding.
Simeone will almost certainly go low-block and look to frustrate, as he has at Anfield before. But if Atlético defend the way they have recently, Liverpool’s front line will find the space. Home advantage and momentum point one way.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Slovan Bratislava — 8 pm
PSG begin the defence of their title against opposition from a considerable distance below them. To recap, Paris beat Arsenal this May on penalties and won their second straight UCL title.
Ligue 1 form has been uneven, but that matters little here. Slovan Bratislava came through a long qualifying campaign and have struggled for consistency on the road. The step up in level is substantial.
Luis Enrique is likely to rotate with the wider league phase in mind, and PSG have the depth to do so without losing control. Expect the hosts to take the lead early, manage the tempo, and add goals when they choose. A controlled home win is the sensible reading, and the only real question is the margin.
Sporting CP vs Galatasaray — 8 pm
The most evenly matched fixture of the evening on paper, and the one most affected by injury news. Galatasaray will be without Victor Osimhen, who picked up a knock at the weekend and had already scored six times this season. Losing your main goalscorer before a European away trip is a serious blow.
Sporting arrive in good domestic rhythm after a run of convincing wins and, unusually, with no injury concerns of their own. The Estádio José Alvalade is a difficult place to visit, and Sporting’s balance between defensive shape and quick transitions suits them here.
Galatasaray still carry quality elsewhere, and their travelling support makes noise. But without Osimhen, the edge sits with the hosts.
Napoli vs Arsenal — 8 pm
Arsenal go to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona with a perfect Premier League record and a strong recent record on the road. Mikel Arteta’s side are well drilled, have plenty of attacking options, and are comfortable controlling games away from home.
Napoli, under Massimiliano Allegri, have shown defensive vulnerabilities that Arsenal are equipped to exploit. They are also without Scott McTominay, who is recovering from a heart procedure — a significant absence in midfield both for quality and for the goals he contributes from deep.
Naples is never a straightforward trip, and Allegri sides are hard to break down when they set up to defend a result. Expect a competitive, physical match. Arsenal’s organisation and bench strength should be the difference.
