Liverpool host Brighton at Anfield on Sunday 25 October (kick-off 2 pm GMT, Sky Sports) in Premier League gameweek eight, with Andoni Iraola’s side coming off a 4-3 Champions League win over Villarreal in which they trailed 2-0, and Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton third in the table with four straight league wins. The visitors have scored 15 goals and conceded none in that run.
Form & what’s at stake
Liverpool won 2-1 at Brentford on Saturday 17 October and then beat Villarreal 4-3 on Tuesday, with Alexis Mac Allister scoring twice after the visitors went two goals up. They are fifth in the league with 12 points. Iraola, who replaced the sacked Arne Slot in June after leaving Bournemouth, has been given a squad that scores plenty and concedes plenty.
Brighton are third on 16 points and have won four in a row, the last a 5-0 demolition of Crystal Palace. They have kept four straight clean sheets, which is the most striking number in the division and the one Liverpool will worry about.
Liverpool lead the head-to-head 10 wins to 4 with 4 draws in 18 Premier League meetings, and they have won six of nine at Anfield. Brighton have won only once there, and Liverpool last beat them 2-0 at Anfield in December 2025.

Team news & injuries
Liverpool are short of players. Dominik Szoboszlai (hamstring), Jeremie Frimpong (new muscle injury, unlikely to return before the November break), Conor Bradley (knee surgery), Hugo Ekitike, and Giovanni Leoni (long-term rehabilitation) are out. Muñoz is a knee doubt. Ryan Gravenberch returns after suspension, according to Rotowire, though another report lists him as suspended, so confirm.
Brighton are without Kaoru Mitoma, Femi Azeez, Evan Ferguson and Stefanos Tzimas. Minteh, Wieffer, Struijk (thigh) and Yohanna are doubts.

Predicted line-ups
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Alisson – Araújo, Jacquet, Van Dijk, Kerkez – Gravenberch, Mac Allister – Barcola, Wirtz, Gakpo – Isak.
Brighton (4-2-3-1): Verbruggen – Kadıoğlu, Vušković, Dunk, Boscagli – Gross, Chema – Gómez, Ayari, De Cuyper – Kostoulas.
Both are projections. Other sources expect Rio Ngumoha to start for Liverpool and call him the player most likely to make a difference.
The key battle
Isak and Wirtz against Brighton’s back four. Brighton defend with a coherent line and haven’t conceded in four games, so Liverpool must create chances through movement and quick combinations, not crosses. Wirtz between the lines is the best way to break that structure.
At the other end, Brighton’s quick transitions against a Liverpool defence that has conceded three goals in a game three times this month. Kostoulas and Ayari will test the full-backs.
Liverpool vs Brighton Prediction & tip
Liverpool have the home record and the attackers, but they also have a leaky defence and a squad running on empty. Brighton have the best defence in the division and fear no one at Anfield. We expect goals at both ends and a narrow home win.
Tip: Both teams to score. Predicted score: Liverpool 2-1 Brighton.
