Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates on Saturday 24 October (kick-off 3 pm BST, not on UK TV) in Premier League gameweek eight, three days after a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich in which Declan Rice scored a late equaliser. The Gunners trail unbeaten Manchester City by three points. They will almost certainly be without Bukayo Saka.
Form & what’s at stake
Arsenal won 1-0 at Nottingham Forest on Sunday 18 October, then drew 2-2 in Munich. Eberechi Eze gave them the lead, Harry Kane’s second-half penalty put Bayern in front, and Rice equalised in the 82nd minute. Their league form reads W W W L W W.
Everton are eighth, three points off the top four, and their recent league results read D D D W D L, the last a 2-0 home defeat to Chelsea in which goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez suffered a head injury. David Moyes has built a team that is hard to beat but struggles to win, with four draws in their last six league games.
History helps Arsenal. Everton haven’t beaten them in their last seven meetings, a run that stretches back to a 1-0 home win in February 2023, and Arsenal won 2-0 at the Emirates in March 2026. Opta’s supercomputer gives Arsenal a 69.5% chance of winning, with Everton on 13.4%.
Team news & injuries
Saka hurt his quad (some reports say his thigh) in Munich, and Mikel Arteta is reportedly fearing the worst about his absence. William Saliba (back) and Christos Tzolis (hamstring) are out, and Piero Hincapié (ankle) might be fit. Noni Madueke is the likely replacement on the right.
Everton are fully fit, including Christian Nørgaard, who has returned from a groin injury.

Predicted, possible line-ups
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Raya – White, Konsa, Gabriel, Calafiori – Lewis-Skelly, Rice – Madueke, Ødegaard, Eze – Gyökeres.
Everton (4-5-1): Pickford – O’Brien, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko – Garner, Armstrong – Röhl, Dewsbury-Hall, Grealish – Barry.
Both are projections. Another source has Arsenal in a 4-3-3 with Havertz and Gyökeres up front.
The key battle
Madueke and Eze against Everton’s compact block. Without Saka, Arsenal lose their best creator on the right, and Everton will sit deep with five in midfield and hit Thierno Barry on the counter. Arsenal need to break the shape with movement, not with width alone.
For Everton, the set pieces. Tarkowski and Branthwaite are the biggest threats from corners, and Arsenal’s centre-back pairing of Konsa and Gabriel has to cope without Saliba.
Arsenal vs Everton Predictions & tips
Arsenal are the better team; they are at home, and Everton haven’t won at the Emirates in years. But the Munich game was draining, and Saka’s absence matters. We expect a professional win without fireworks.
Tip: Arsenal to win and under 3.5 goals. Predicted score: Arsenal 2-0 Everton.
